Dr. sc. Visnja Orescanin (born in 1967, Karlovac) is research associate at Ruđer Bošković Institute. She has Bs. degree in Geology, Ms degree in Toxicology and Ph.D in Biology. Her scientific work is characterized with multidisciplinary approach (geology/geochemistry-environmental chemistry-environmental toxicology-applied statistics) in the solving of wide range of environmental issues especially those in the field of waste minimization and reuse, wastewater and industrial waste treatment and management. Her scientific research was mostly pointed on discovering new procedures for waste water treatment and waste management based on alternative materials (waste by-products of other industries), investigation of behavior of heavy metals in different component of the environment (soil, sediments, water), developments of new methods for heavy metals speciation in liquid samples, toxicological characterization of environmental samples. So far she published 58 scientific papers (among them 38 papers in CC journals), two patents, 15 environmental impact assessment reports. Her biography was published in Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and accepted for publication in Marquis Who's Who in the World. |
